What's DHA

DHA is short for Docosahexanoic acid. Well its a fatty acid which is quite helpful in your overall development. It is known to be specifically good  in both brain and eye development. Well where can it  be found? You can easily find this in any of the OTC products which has a label of Omega 3, 6 and 9 on it. Omega 3 is an excellent source of DHA, hence most products carry the name Omega 3 DHA.

Actually Omega 3 comes from fish. Salmon, herring etc have rich source of Omega 3 DHA. You might have had your mother gulp you that cod liver oil tablets. Well the reason for that is that all these tablets contain good sources of Omega 3, 6 , and 9.

So what are the other benefits of Omega 3? Well to be very specific it is useful for reducing coronary heart disease. And FDA has actually approved that. Another thing is that it also helpful for prenatal mothers for the healthy eye and brain development of their children. Even adults benefit from it in big way as it is useful in their brain and eye development. Although not proved but it can be used to fight Alzheimer's disease.

Well there is one problem though. Many times the fish that has been used for making this wonder supplement contains ocean pollutants, and may contain high amounts of mercury. Also there may be people who are on an all vegetarian diet. Also killing fishes is not such a good idea, after all they contribute to the food cycle.

So companies have introduced a solution to this also. They have brought vegetarian Omega 3 in the market too. Actually there are reports which suggest the reason that fishes have Omega 3 in their bodies is because they have a rich intake of planktons or algae. So technically it is this plant form which actually contains Omega 3 instead of the fishes having it. So companies have devised a product which has algae as a source instead of regular fish. This goes by the  name Vegan Omega 3. Well we have a sizable chunk of companies offering this product. But I personally have met a manufacturer who intends to hit the US market with this product.

Currently this product is in the R&D stage, but they are just about to launch this product. What impressed me about this company is their professional approach to their manufacturing process. They have made sure that they have approved all the certifications that is there. For example HALAL,  WHO GMP, Kosher etc are some of the certifications that they have obtained. Its a company which is into supplements, nutraceuticals etc. and they are to bring a host of products into the US arena very soon. More about it shall be discussed later.

Health: The real wealth

In todays health concious world, healthy living has become the most important aspect of one's living. Whether it is healthy body, healthy mind or a healthy soul. People now find that it is more important to have a healthy inner system rather than hitting the gym and building bulk and muscles.

The most important thing for having a healthy inner system is the food we take. There is no correct equation as to what makes the body move on correctly. But we all have heard a few advices for the same. Like drinking lots of water is one thing. We need to keep ourselves hydrated all the time. Whether it is with water, juices or anything. It is important for one to take atleast around 8-10 glasses of water per day. This is in turn flushes out the toxins that get filled in our body, due to our environmental exposure.

Water not only refreshes the body but also rejuvenates the mind. It acts as a coolant to our ever performing organs like the brain and the heart. It helps boosts metabolism, rejuvenates the digestive system, hydrates the skin and keeps it moist, its a kind of a natural moisturizer and it also dilutes blood so as to reduce your blood pressure.

So guys if you want to keep yourselves healthy from the inside then there is nothing like water. So go and have yourselves a glass of water.

The State : Gujarat

Hi guys,

I have now reached the first phase of my journey wherein I have reached Gujarat. It can be easily said to be the cultural capital of India. With its varied colors and hues, Gujarat is as vibrant as it can get. Interestingly there is a vibrant festival going on, right now. In a few days they tell me that the skies are going to be lit up with kites. And by KITES I do not mean the bird kite, but the actual paper and string driven kites.

The Government of Gujarat actually has invited kite flyers from all over the world to participate in this festival and hope to get a superb crowd for the following week. The cities have been lit up for this festival and from what I see I think the people too are in a pretty festive mood. Hope all goes well during this week, as I tag along from city to city in completing my actual goal of finding those herbs that India is so famous for.

The journey begins.

The Indian Adventure begins...
Hello adventurers out there.

You can call me a nomad, an adventurer, a nature lover and other things that even I may not know of. I am now on my first trip to India and I am all excited about it. I have nothing with me, just my airtickets, my traveller's bag and a DSLR. The only reason I am visiting India is to know about the varied plant species that exist in India.

Nature has been my passion for long and it is this nature of mine of loving nature that has inspired me to come to India to explore.I would be travelling across all over India in an attempt to explore the intricacies of mother nature. And the reason I have created this blog is to share some of my experiences with you guys.

This visit is all about exploration and learning and it is this learning that has got me all excited.
